Caspian Drilling Company Ltd (CDC) (a subsidiary of SOCAR) has completed the towing of the “Dede Gorgud” semi-submersible drilling rig to the drilling site of the V-1 well of the “Zhenis” field, located in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.

According to the CDC, the operation of the “Dede Gorgud” in Kazakhstan is carried out on the basis of an agreement concluded by the Caspian Drilling Company and the subsoil user “Zhenis” Operating Company.

The founders of “Zhenis” Operating are Lukoil (50%) and the National Company “KazMunayGas” (50%) on an equal footing.

The start of drilling of the well is scheduled for approximately December 15th. The estimated drilling time for well V-1 is 110 days.

This is the second international project for CDC, where the company adequately represented Azerbaijan. Caspian Drilling Company ten years ago drilled an exploratory well on the promising “Shemen” structure on the Israeli sea shelf.
