Strong wind blocks navigation in Caspian Sea

Vessels in the Caspian Sea basin could not resume traffic due to wind.

Report informs that the waves in the Caspian Sea currently reach five meters.

Northern, northwestern wind prevails with gusts up to 20-25 m/s.

The RoPax-type ferry Zarifa Aliyeva, which set sail on May 5 and carries a Report employee on board, is currently moored about five nautical miles (about 9 km) from the Kazakh port of Kuryk. According to preliminary forecasts, the wind will subside in the second half of May 10, and ships will be permitted to move.
