Job Title: Survey and Positioning Engineer Coordinator

Education: Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Territorial Engineering, Survey Positioning

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of international experience in Survey Engineering performing the supervisory and management roles such as Survey Coordinator, Project Surveyor, Survey Party Chief on medium-to large-scale and complex projects within oil and gas industry.

Skills and Competences:

  • Capability to prepare the scope of work and technical specifications for survey works relevant to the pipelines and subsea structures;
  • Knowledge of methodologies and tools for topographical data gathering. Capability to read and interpret topographic technical project documents and calculate topographical coordinates using appropriate tools, such as foundation plans, longitudinal section, reading plans, underground drawings;
  • Capability to use all types of survey instrumentation. Understand the limitations of the instrumentation used. Identify the best survey method for specific activities. Guarantee the efficiency of the survey system. Guarantee the calibration of equipment and instruments. Understanding of environmental effects on surveys;
  • Capability to analyze any opportunity for improvement and to define/promote advances in operating procedures and company processes;
  • Capability to analyze the cost effectiveness of different alternatives in order to see whether benefits outweigh costs;
  • Capability to plan assigned project team activities defining technical roles and tasks and estimating the needed number of resources and their skills, in order to meet project milestones and targets;
  • Capability to implement/provide standards, procedures and work instructions relevant to the discipline;
  • Knowledge of related Quality Assurance and Control principles;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills;
  • Strong managerial skills.

Languages: Azerbaijani (fluent); English (fluent)

Responsibilities:

  • Supply Survey and Positioning services to projects through the subordinate staff;
  • Plan and maintain the required levels of suitability of the qualified and competent Survey and Positioning personnel;
  • Define with the Corporate Survey Coordinator all decisions and strategic orientations in order to optimize costs and human resources for the ongoing projects;
  • Provide support to subordinate staff in terms of resources, office space and accommodation;
  • Define the allocation of people and supervise their work;
  • Review scopes of work for new projects and ensure that selected Survey systems, methodologies and personnel are adequate for the Client and meet operational requirements;
  • Assist the Project Management Team for the definition/optimization of survey and positioning services;
  • Maintain a continuous dialog with VOMs and Vessel Superintendents;
  • Develop Department or Team budgets and forecasts;
  • Guarantee an adequate development and training of subordinate staff;
  • Plan and supervise the Survey and Positioning aspects of vessel mobilizations;
  • Ensure that dedicated equipment is managed efficiently among projects;
  • Establish and maintain standards for charting of data for all survey tasks;
  • Ensure that project data is logged from arrival in the office and tracked through to offsite archiving;
  • Assist the personnel recruitment by taking part in the vetting of CVs, interviews;
  • Ensure that offshore Survey Teams are balanced in terms of experience and competence;
  • Assist the Procurement Department with selection and procurement of Survey systems and equipment;
  • Revise or facilitate the revision of Survey and Positioning Frame Agreements;
  • Evaluate new vendor technical bids and suggest to Procurement the most suitable tender invitation list. Provide or facilitate input to proposals and other commercial activities;
  • Liaise with Corporate Survey in order to keep Corporate Criteria up to date;
  • Maintain survey and positioning work instructions and ensure that revisions are implemented as required;
  • Maintain a watching brief on new survey technology that may enhance offshore Survey operations;
  • Fulfil the role of Project Surveyor when required and where time allows;
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of Survey methods for new systems or market sectors;
  • Conduct all activities following Company Procedures and Work Instructions;
  • Adhere to Company safety, health and environmental procedures and policies.
