The United States will continue to impose sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project and hopes to prevent its implementation, APA reports citing Iciscom.

This was announced on Wednesday, December 16, by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Christopher Robinson.

According to him, Washington will use restrictive measures “to stop the project”.

“I would say that these sanctions are working and we will stop this pipeline,” the American diplomat stressed.

According to Robinson, the shutdown of Nord Stream 2 could be the key to improving relations between the United States and Russia in the future.
