BP-Azerbaijan (project operator) has brought the first exploration well SАХ01 on the Shafag-Asiman block, located in the deep-water part of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, to 3,864 meters

This was reported in the quarterly report of BP-Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that drilling of the first exploration well in the Shafag-Asiman offshore block was started on January 13 of this year. The well design depth is about 7 thousand meters.

The well is being drilled by SOCAR Caspian Drilling Company (CDC).

According to the schedule, drilling and testing of the well will take a total of 604 days.

According to the information, after the well reaches the design depth, the obtained data will be analyzed, and if they are successful, then the implementation of the assessment program will begin to confirm the results.

Recall that the contract for the offshore block of Shafag-Asiman fields was signed between SOCAR and BP in October 2010 for a period of 30 years.

Equity participation in the contract is distributed on a parity basis. The block is located 125 kilometers southeast of Baku.
