Title: Senior Instrument Control Engineer

JOB SUMMARY
This position is expected to deliver management skills and specialist technical support and assurance for Instrument & Control hardware and software systems, manage work across the field of Instrument & Control engineering, including protective safety systems for operations, ensure safe, reliable operation and remove or mitigate risk within their area of responsibility and provide support to the Minor Mods team and be responsible for approval of the instrumentation and control equipment maintenance strategies and procedures.
The individual is expected to have experience in automated safety systems (SIS), instrument sensing devices, instrument controllers, control valves and other instrument devices and their operation at oil and gas processing facilities and be knowledgeable of applicable industry standards and practices. JOB DUTIES
- Report to the Discipline Engineers Team Lead and work under his overall supervision and directions.
- Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) Studies.
- Control HAZOP studies.
- Conceptual and front-end design review for modifications and projects.
- Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) design, installation and verification, in particular Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- Participation in and performing process hazard analysis functions, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) and design reviews and risk/reliability assessments.
- Field instrumentation, ICSS, and fire and gas system specification and evaluation.
- Commissioning of facilities and technical troubleshooting.
- Producing recommendations for equipment operation or maintenance improvements.
- Participating in Root Cause and Failure Analysis (RCFA).
- Providing technical guidance on application of codes, standards, project design criteria and ETPs.
- Involvement with the development of industry standards and practices (e.g. IEC 61508/11, EEMUA).
- Conceptual and front-end design review for modifications and projects.
- Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) design, installation and verification, in particular Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).

REQUIREMENTS
Functional
- Extensive experience with instrumentation, control and protective systems.
- Good working knowledge of industry and government standards such as IEC, EEMUA and/or ISA, NEC, API requirements for facilities.
- Expertise with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Worked with field instruments,
- Good understanding troubleshooting field instrumentation,
- Testing instrumentation and control systems,
- Worked with relays,
- Maintenance of associated panels,
- Working with Control systems (DCS, SIS, PLCs, MMS, F&G), and package unit equipment. Familiarity database Instrumentation tools (SPI).
- Control system Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Control System Acceptance Tests (SAT ) .PLC control panel specification.
- Working closely with Operation Engineering and Maintenance in order to solve issue
- Proficient with the development of all systems related deliverables; including I/O Lists, Range/Alarm/Trip/Shutdown schedules, system block diagrams, Cause/Effect Logic Diagram, Logic Narratives, Control Narratives, Complex Loop Narratives, Hardware/Software/Configuration Specs, etc.
- Develop the scope of work using P&ID’s, specifications, and project requirements to specify and complete instrument and control system.
- Preparing management of change and modification in instrument and control system
- Working in oil &gas and chemical plant and try to solve issues,
- Commissioning and system integration of new systems within the facility
- Worked with a preventive maintenance program and all associated hardware and software
- Supporting and maintaining established system standards and documentation for process control loops and analytical equipment
- Generate / review hardware layouts, drawings, block diagrams, reports, and other project artefacts to document, archive, and communicate the work and outcomes
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
- Analytical Thinking

- Deductive Reasoning Instrumentation terms, concepts, diagrams and symbols
- How to implement an instrument and wiring number system
- An overview of the use of PLCs in industrial applications
- Pressure sources and the basic terms of pressure measurement
- Level measurement and the basics associated with it
- Temperature measurement and the various associated transducers
- Flow measurement techniques
- Control valve principles and common valve types
- New technologies such as smart instrumentation and fieldbus
- How to integrate a complete system (considering instrumentation and total errors) as well as selection criteria, commissioning and testing
- An overview of HMI, SCADA and DCS systems
- Different tuning rules
- Latest ISO requirements for a company
- HAZOP studies
- About reliability centred maintenance and spare parts analysis
- To appreciate factory and site acceptance testing
- Considerations for building in-house panels and installations

Education and experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with human machine interfaces and/or operator training simulators.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with process control and/or advanced control
- Minimum 7 years of working knowledge Project and/or operations experience as instrument/control engineer of plant operations
- Proficient in preparing work scopes, MOC (manage of chances) and budgets, and ensure that scopes and budgets are met
- Bachelor’s or Master degree in Instrument and Control discipline.
- Professional Engineer and/or Chartered Engineer is desirable
Language skills
- Advanced knowledge of Azeri and English
- Knowledge of Russian is preferable
