The Royal Navy of Great Britain will conduct joint naval exercises with the Ukrainian Navy to prevent “threats” in the Black Sea, said the head of the British Ministry of Defense Ben Wallace, APA reports citing Tellerreport.

“The UK is launching multinational exercises to strengthen the Ukrainian naval forces to counter threats from the east,” – said in a statement on the website of the British Cabinet.

During a meeting in Kiev with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrey Taran and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ruslan Khomchak, Wallace said that Britain would send ships to the region for joint exercises in the fall.

According to the British minister, this initiative will help develop defense cooperation between the two countries.

“We have already helped thousands of Ukrainian soldiers in a range of skills, ranging from first aid to operational planning, all of which protect their territorial integrity,” the statement said.
