Azerbaijan sends 16 more Kazakh citizens back home

Sixteen citizens of Kazakhstan and eleven citizens of Azerbaijan with a residence permit in Kazakhstan, which were stranded in Azerbaijan due to border closures, were sent back to their home today from the port of Baku on a “Merkury 1” ferry of the “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company” CSJC. All of the passengers were tested negative for the COVID-19 pandemic before departure from the port of Baku.

As of May 13, new rules are being applied regarding passing the state border of Kazakhstan during the quarantine restrictions. Based on the new regulations, the port of Kuryk resumed receiving the citizens of Kazakhstan and foreigners with a permit to reside in the country. Within the last four months, 194 citizens of Kazakhstan and 111 foreign country citizens have been sent home from the port of Baku.
