Two vessels of the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 (SNMCMG2) military unit arrived at Georgian Batumi port, Trend reports via Georgian media outlets.

NATO ships are on a routine patrol deployment to enhance interoperability and cooperation with Allies and NATO partners on the Black Sea coast.

The ITS Vesuvio (Italy) and TCG Amasra (Turkey) ships entered Batumi after the US military ship USS Porter left the port.

Also, joint exercises with the participation of NATO ships and the Georgian coast guard are planned.

SNMCMG2 is one of four standing NATO groups which are multinational, integrated maritime forces made up of vessels from Allied countries.
