Freight shipments in Iranian ports up

Some 68.06 million tons of cargo has been loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports since the beginning of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019) till September 10, 2019, Trend reports referring to a report by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, the volume of shipped products increased by 1.9 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (66.76 million tons).

Shipments have been loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports of Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereydunkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 19.93 million tons of oil were loaded and unloaded, which indicates an 8.4-percent decrease compared to the same period of last year (21.76 million tons).

Some 0.77 million tons accounted for container cargo with a 35.4-percent decrease during the reporting period compared to the same period of last year (1.20 million tons).

The volume of other container cargoes reached 9.34 million tons during the reporting period, which is 19.6 percent less than in the same period of last year (11.61 million tons).

The total cargo shipload made up 8.91 million tons during the reporting period, which is 9.6 percent less compared to the same period of last year (9.85 million tons).

The volume of dry bulk cargo reached 27.26 million tons during the reporting period, which shows a 29.9-percent increase compared to the same period of last year (20.99 million tons).

The volume of loaded and unloaded liquid bulk cargo made up 2.62 million tons during the reporting period, which shows a 2.9-percent increase compared to the same period of last year (2.54 million tons).
