Accident with Iran’s cargo ship in Astrakhan

Iran’s cargo ship “Sepano”, transporting 4,900 tons of grain ran aground in Volga-Caspian sea Canal in Astrakhan area.

Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Astrakhan region reported the incident at 9:25 local time in the Ikryaninsky district, between the towns of Ninovka and Fedorovk, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

Despite the accident, the ship was not damaged and it’s 14 crew members were not injured. It is reported that they have a stock of food for ten days.

The ship was transporting grain from Astrakhan to the Iranian port of Amirabad.

The Iranian ship was built in 2000 and is working under management of Persian Golden Sea Company.
