An international World Ports Conference under the theme “Ports of Future: Building Hubs, Accelerating Connectivity” will be held in Baku from May 8 to 11. The Baku International Sea Trade Port is the first port in Central Eurasia to host IAPH conference, which will bring together 355 participants from 64 countries.
The four-day conference will focus on the important and interesting topics like emerging transport corridors around the world that contribute to domestic economies in free trade zones and neighboring countries, as well as “SmartPorts”, “Green Ports” and marine tourism.
The conference agenda also includes a technical visit to the new Port of Baku in Alat, which is the linchpin of Azerbaijan’s grand hub vision.
The Group Chairman and CEO of Dubai Port (DP) World Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Forbes and BBC World contributor Wade Shepherd, director of FMP Associates Ltd. and former Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Logistics City Michael Proffitt, president of the Trieste Port Authority Zeno D’Agostino, Executive Director of the Nigerian Port Authority Hadiza Bala Usman, CEO of the port of Le Havre Hervé Martel and professor at Shanghai University Teo Teotetom will address the conference.
The previous conferences were held in Los Angeles (2013), Sydney (2014), Hamburg (2015), Panama (2016), and Bali (2017).
IAPH was formed in 1955 and over the last 60 years has grown into a global alliance representing over 180 members ports and 140 port related businesses in 90 countries. The principal aim of IAPH revolves around promoting the interests of ports worldwide, building strong member relationships and sharing best practices among members.
