Triple collision in Sunda Strait, Swiss and Indo bulk carriers and tanker

    Accident involving three vessels occurred in the afternoon Aug 29 off Merak port, northwest Java, Sunda Strait, when two bulk carriers and tanker collided, under yet unclear circumstances. All three vessels – bulk carriers MAESTRO DIAMOND and SRIKANDI INDONESIA, and tanker ANGLE NO.1 or ANGEL NO.1 – were damaged in the collision.

    MAESTRO DIAMOND went adrift after collision, as of 0330 UTC Aug 30 she was drifting, not under command, in northern Sunda Strait. SRIKANDI INDONESIA according to AIS, was brought to anchor on Merak Anchorage, and as of 1300 UTC Aug 30, remained at anchor. No information found on tanker and her present condition. One of the vessels said to suffer blackout.
