Qatar’s state-owned QatarEnergy is in negotiations to secure long-term contracts for additional purchases of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States.

Sea-news.az reports citing Bloomberg.

According to the report, the company plans to sign agreements in the coming months for annual deliveries ranging between 3 million and 6 million tonnes of LNG.

It should be noted that in October, Australia’s Woodside Energy agreed to supply Qatar with 3 million tonnes of LNG per year over a 20-year period from an LNG export terminal under construction in Louisiana, USA.

Qatar ranks as the world’s third-largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, behind the United States and Australia. The nation’s current LNG production capacity stands at 77 million tonnes per annum.
