A tanker caught fire after hitting a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz.
Sea-news.az reports citing Al Jazeera that this was disclosed by the Iranian Navy.
The Iranian side claimed that the vessel violated transit regulations through the strait, entered a hazardous zone in its eastern part, and turned off its detection and navigation systems.
“We once again warn shipowners that the Strait of Hormuz is unsafe and remains closed to vessels attempting to pass without prior authorization,” the statement noted.
