Severe disruptions to ferry services are anticipated across several major Greek ports following a strike declared by three maritime trade unions.
Sea-news.az reports citing Ekathimerini, that the strike will impact operations at the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, Lavrio, Patras, Igoumenitsa, and Elefsina, as well as the Rio–Antirrio ferry crossing, leading to widespread schedule cancellations and delays.
The unions are demanding improved collective labor agreements, a 12% wage increase, reduced working hours, and enhanced safety and security protocols for crews operating in conflict zones.
The industrial action coincides with coordinated international labor protests by dockworkers opposing the procurement and routing of military hardware and personnel through commercial ports toward active conflict theaters.
