United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has denied claims made by Iran that commercial vessels are regularly striking sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
Sea-news.az reports citing an official statement released by CENTCOM.
“In recent days and weeks, Iranian-controlled media outlets have been disseminating claims from the Iranian side alleging that commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz are hitting sea mines. These claims are false,” the statement stressed.
According to the US military, all primary internationally recognized transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz have been cleared of naval mines by US forces.
The command emphasized that thousands of commercial vessels have safely navigated the Strait of Hormuz and continue to utilize these transit lanes today.
