All beaches and coastal areas in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), have been temporarily closed due to an oil spill from a tanker.

Sea-news.az reports that this was published by “The Arab Weekly”.

According to the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, measures are currently underway to contain the oil spill and assess its environmental impact.

The beaches will remain closed until specialists complete the environmental assessment and establish the required steps to safeguard the marine environment.

The Ministry has urged fishermen, residents, and tourists to stay clear of coastal areas and adhere strictly to official directives.

It should be noted that a sharp odor resembling fuel or gas leakage was previously reported spreading across the territories of Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain.
