October 12 is observed in many countries as World Arthritis Day. Established in 1996 on the initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO), the day aims to raise global awareness of rheumatic diseases and promote early diagnosis and prevention of arthritis.
Sea-news.az reports arthritis is an inflammatory condition affecting one or more joints, encompassing over 100 different diagnoses. Data from the WHO indicates that one in ten people worldwide suffers from arthritis. If left untreated, it can lead to disability and loss of work capacity. It is most frequently observed in individuals aged 30–50, with women being five times more susceptible than men.
Experts emphasize that early detection and prevention are crucial in managing the condition. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing body weight, and staying physically active can significantly reduce the risk of developing arthritis.
