Tropical Storm “Isaias,” which formed in the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to rapidly intensify into a hurricane that could pose a threat to the US Gulf Coast.

Sea-news.az reports that “Isaias” is forecast to reach hurricane strength on Thursday and approach the northern US Gulf Coast as a Category 2 hurricane on Friday. Wind speeds are expected to reach approximately 110 miles per hour (177 kilometers per hour).

Based on current forecasts, the hurricane could impact a broad region stretching from southern Louisiana to the northwestern Florida peninsula. Recent tracks indicate that its probable trajectory has shifted slightly eastward toward Alabama and Florida. Meteorologists emphasize that uncertainty regarding the storm’s exact path remains high and the trajectory may change in the coming days.

“Isaias” could become the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. Although eight tropical storms have been recorded so far this season, none have reached hurricane status.
