Iran is awaiting Washington’s official response to the proposal submitted to the United States regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Sea-news.az reports that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that negotiations were held with the Iranian side through Qatari mediation, and the resulting proposals will be conveyed to the US. Following this, Washington’s final response is expected to be presented to Tehran.

According to Araghchi, the Qatari side hopes to receive a response from the US today. The minister noted that Iran has specific conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and ways to implement these conditions were discussed with Qatari mediators during recent meetings.

Reports indicate that the talks are being conducted within the framework of a seven-day plan submitted by Iran to the US. The plan’s terms include Tehran opening the Strait of Hormuz for one week in exchange for the US fulfilling certain requirements. According to Reuters, the proposal also encompasses the cessation of military operations, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, and the easing of sanctions against the oil sector.
