President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the servicemen who died during military exercises in the Caspian Sea were not provided with necessary equipment, including life jackets.

Sea-news.az reports that during a meeting with high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, Tokayev instructed that the organization of the exercises, servicemen’s equipment, and safety measures be thoroughly investigated.

It should be noted that on September 24, during the “Caspian Korghany-2026” exercises held in the Mangystau Region, 17 servicemen fell into the sea from the vessel “Kaisar.” Three of them were rescued, while 14 servicemen lost their lives.

The investigation into the causes of the incident is ongoing.
