Iran has announced that it will not open the Strait of Hormuz to navigation until the US accepts the conditions put forward by Tehran.
Sea-news.az reports that this was stated by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament. According to Ghalibaf, until Iran’s conditions are met and the country’s legitimate rights are recognized, it is impossible to return to the previous terms of negotiations regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Until these conditions are met, until the legitimate rights of the Iranian people are recognized, and until the obligations of the Americans are fulfilled, there will not be the slightest possibility to return to the previous terms of negotiations and open the Strait of Hormuz,” he emphasized.
It should be noted that earlier, Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, stated that the Iranian authorities had presented their conditions regarding the cessation of the war to the US through Qatari intermediaries. He announced that a response from US President Donald Trump was awaited.
