The U.S. Armed Forces have sunk another vessel in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean, allegedly linked to Ecuador’s “Los Choneros” narcoterrorist organization.
Sea-news.az reports that this information was released by the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).
According to the Command, intelligence data confirmed the vessel’s connection with the “Los Choneros” organization. The individuals on board the vessel were handed over to Ecuadorian officials.
In a statement posted by SOUTHCOM on the “X” platform, it was noted that after an inspection was conducted on the vessel and the crew evacuated it, U.S. military personnel sank the vessel.
Based on the information, the vessel is alleged to have been used as a floating refueling station during drug smuggling operations.
According to the U.S. side, since the end of August 2026, at least five vessels reported to have been used as floating refueling stations for “Los Choneros” have been sunk.
