World Patient Safety Day observed on September 17

Sea-news.az reports that World Patient Safety Day, established on the initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to raise public awareness about the importance of patient safety, draw attention to preventing risks that may arise during the provision of medical services, and promote the improvement of the quality of healthcare services.

Within the framework of this day, various events are held in healthcare institutions to protect patients’ rights and safety, prevent medical errors and adverse events, educate medical staff, and promote safe medical services.

Patient safety is considered one of the main directions of the modern healthcare system. Accurate diagnostics, correct treatment, safe application of medications, infection prevention, and minimization of risks during medical procedures are of crucial importance in protecting patients’ health.

World Patient Safety Day also highlights the importance of strengthening cooperation among healthcare workers, patients, and their families. The patient’s informed participation in medical decision-making and open communication with the doctor are among the key conditions for safe and quality medical services.
