The United States expects positive changes in the near future regarding security and navigation in the Red Sea.
Sea-news.az reports citing The National, that this was stated by Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Arab countries and the Middle East to US President Donald Trump, during his speech at the Arab Media Summit in Dubai.
“Freedom of navigation is a red line for President Trump”
Massad Boulos noted that the US is carrying out close military coordination with regional allies to restore stability in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait region. According to him, ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea is a principled and highly critical issue for the White House leader:
“Over the last few hours, we see that the situation is starting to shift in a positive direction. We haven’t made any announcements about that yet. Freedom of navigation in the Red Sea is a red line and a very important topic for President Trump. Coordination work is underway with our regional allies, and we will see changes very soon.”
As a reminder, the security crisis off the coast of Yemen and in the Red Sea basin has escalated sharply since the beginning of September. Houthi forces have continued launching attacks using missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against coastal regions of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
