U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warns Tehran that tanker strikes will continue with every attack on American naval vessels

The United States has formally declared that it will continue targeting Iranian oil tankers in direct retaliation for any hostile actions directed against its warships.

Sea-news.az reports that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made these remarks while answering journalists’ questions in Colombia, stating that Tehran will continue to forfeit its commercial tankers whenever it attempts to target U.S. Navy vessels.

“Iran continues to attempt to target U.S. Navy ships. Every single time they do that, or try to do that, they will lose their tankers. I think you will witness that happening again today,” Rubio declared.

In his televised address, the Secretary of State did not disclose precise operational timetables or specific targets for potential upcoming strikes.

This escalation follows earlier claims by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which announced that it had successfully targeted U.S. Navy destroyers “DDG-119” and “DDG-53” during an operation utilizing ballistic and cruise missiles. The IRGC further stated that the engagement specifically targeted American warships equipped with the advanced Aegis combat system.

Independent verification of the competing military claims and reciprocal strike reports issued by both Washington and Tehran remains pending.
