Through intermediary parties, Iran has communicated its terms to the United States for the restoration of commercial vessel movement in the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of shipping restrictions.
Sea-news.az reports that Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, made a statement regarding this.
In the statement cited by the Tasnim agency, Mohsen Rezaei stated that free passage through the strait will not be ensured unless Washington changes its political and military behavior and fulfills Tehran’s demands.
One of the main conditions put forward by Iran is the immediate cessation of ongoing wars and military clashes in the Middle East region, including Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. Tehran also demands the full reimbursement of financial funds and blocked assets frozen in foreign banks.
Mohsen Rezaei specifically emphasized that the local agreement reached between Iran and Oman regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz will in no way affect the issue of opening the strait to general international navigation.
