A large-scale operation was carried out in Turkey’s Izmir and Muğla provinces against networks posing a threat to humanitarian security and organizing illegal migration.
Sea-news.az reports that as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Turkish Gendarmerie Organization and the Coast Guard Command, 132 irregular migrants and 9 individuals who organized their departure from the country via sea and land routes were detained.
Out of the 9 detained organizers, a pre-trial detention measure was chosen for 4 of them by court order, while investigative and procedural measures regarding the other individuals are ongoing. The 132 apprehended irregular migrants were handed over to the relevant centers of the Provincial Migration Management Directorates, and the process of their deportation from the country has begun. Turkey’s Coast Guard forces have intensified patrol and control raids in the Aegean Sea waters and coastal strip to prevent illegal migration routes.
