Four years have passed since the “Gisas” (Vengeance) retaliatory operation carried out by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan against illegal Armenian armed groups in Karabakh.
Sea-news.az reports that illegal Armenian armed formations in the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent was temporarily stationed, grossly violating the terms of the trilateral Statement dated November 10, 2020, committed a terrorist-provocation against the units of the Azerbaijan Army on August 3, 2022. As a result of this provocation, our serviceman, soldier Anar Rustam oglu Kazimov, became a martyr.
At the same time, illegal armed groups attempted to seize the Qirkhqiz height located in the direction of the Kalbajar and Lachin districts and establish new strategic combat positions there.
As a result of the high-precision “Gisas” operation carried out by the units of the Azerbaijan Army, the Qirkhqiz height, as well as Saribaba and a number of other important dominant heights along the Karabakh ridge, were brought under full control. Immediate reinforcement, establishment of new positions, and engineering-fortification works were carried out at the strategic lines liberated by our Army.
Within the framework of the operation, numerous combat positions of illegal Armenian armed units, as well as a military unit in the settlement of Yuxari Oratag, were destroyed with precise strikes; the enemy’s manpower, D-30 howitzers, military equipment, and a large volume of ammunition were eliminated.
