Elshan Nadir oglu Ahmadov, a 52-year-old Azerbaijani citizen and captain of a ship sailing under the Vanuatu flag, has passed away.
According to sea-news.az that the captain left his vessel with the intention of returning to his homeland to attend the 40th-day memorial service for his late father.
While preparing to fly to Azerbaijan, the captain’s health suddenly deteriorated while he was in Egypt. Although an emergency medical team was immediately called to the scene, despite all the doctors’ efforts, his life could not be saved. According to preliminary assumptions, the captain passed away from sudden cardiac arrest.
Currently, the late captain’s body is at a morgue in Egypt. Necessary diplomatic and logistical measures are being taken to transport his remains to Azerbaijan in the coming days and hand them over to his family.
