Products manufactured in the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) will be exempt from customs duties for a period of 15 years, provided that 50% of these goods are exported.
According to sea-news.az that this matter was reflected in the draft amendment to the Law “On Customs Tariff,” which was discussed at today’s extraordinary plenary session of the parliament.
The draft states that for goods of Azerbaijani origin, which have been fully produced or sufficiently processed in the Alat Free Economic Zone by a legal entity of the Free Zone according to criteria defined by the relevant executive authority, the import from the AFEZ into the main economy of the country—provided that at least 50% of the volume is exported outside the country’s borders in a manner determined by the relevant executive authority—shall be exempt from customs duties for a period of 15 years from the date of the establishment of the Free Zone legal entity that produced or processed the goods.
If the draft is approved, the exemptions will take effect from January 1, 2027.
In the end, the project was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
