The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz and that shipping activities in the region continue to operate at a normal pace.
According to sea-news.az CENTCOM spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins refuted Tehran’s official claims in a statement to “Axios” portal journalist Barak Ravid:
“Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. Vessel transit continues, and US forces are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that navigation remains stable in this manner.”
The statement in question comes at a time of heightened regional tensions and various conflicting claims regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The US military official emphasized that transit through this international maritime route, which holds strategic importance for global energy shipments, is uninterrupted and the situation is completely under control.
