For safety purposes, commercial vessels entering or leaving the Persian Gulf are advised to use the southern route closer to the coast of Oman when passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to sea-news.az the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) released information regarding the matter.

The statement from the agency, which operates under the British Royal Navy, noted that although the threat level for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz dropped to “moderate” after the announcement of the signing of the memorandum between Washington and Tehran, there may still be mines in the international fairway of the strait.

Additionally, to minimize existing risks, commercial vessels are suggested to strictly adhere to established safety procedures, as well as to coordinate their transit movements with the United States Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT).
