Alleged Strike on Oil Tanker

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that an oil tanker heading toward Iran in the Gulf of Oman has been disabled.

According to sea-news.az the information was published on CENTCOM’s official social media account.

The statement claims that the Palau-flagged tanker “M/T Marivex” was targeted after failing to comply with U.S. instructions. A precision strike was reportedly carried out by an F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft launched from the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.

CENTCOM said the strike rendered the vessel’s steering system and engine room inoperable.

The command also noted that since April 13, within the framework of what it described as Iran’s maritime blockade enforcement, U.S. forces have redirected 134 vessels, allowed passage to 42 humanitarian shipments, and disabled seven vessels allegedly violating the restrictions.
