A cargo vessel has come under fire from unidentified armed individuals near the coast of Yemen.
According to sea-news.az the information was reported by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which operates under the UK Royal Navy.
It was stated that the incident occurred approximately 88 nautical miles northwest of the city of Belhaf, Yemen, when a boat carrying six armed individuals approached the cargo ship.
According to the report, an exchange of fire took place between the ship’s security team and the attackers. The assailants later withdrew from the area.
No official information has been released regarding casualties or damage to the vessel. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
