Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov has stated that the construction costs of the fifth and sixth nuclear icebreakers under Project 22220 may need to be revised, with Rosatom currently working on their financing.
According to sea-news.az the minister said that additional funding options are now under discussion:
“Of course, there are proposals regarding financing. Additional funds will need to be allocated and prices recalculated. Rosatom is currently working on this. The financial model is based on a transport service order. The key issue here is maintaining a balance in pricing,” he said.
Alikhanov also noted that the Baltic Shipyard is operating efficiently, and although some components have been affected by inflation, the shipyard is not the main driver of price increases.
It should be recalled that earlier in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed that financing for the fifth and sixth series of universal nuclear icebreakers be secured and that the possibility of issuing state guarantees be considered.
