Irans Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) has claimed that a vessel named “MSC Sariska,” allegedly linked to the United States and Israel, was struck by a cruise missile in the Gulf of Oman.

The statement was reported by Irans state broadcaster.

According to the IRGCN, the operation was carried out in response to what it described as a US attack on an Iranian vessel, the “Lian Star,” in the same region:

“Following the hostile attack by US forces on the Iranian vessel ‘Lian Star’ in the Gulf of Oman, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy carried out a retaliatory operation, striking the enemy US–Israeli vessel ‘MSC Sariska’ with a cruise missile,” the statement said.

Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) had announced that it struck the “Lian Star” cargo ship with a Hellfire missile, claiming the vessel was heading toward an Iranian port.
