During the first ten days of May, three tankers carrying Iraqi oil reportedly passed through the Strait of Hormuz with tracking systems turned off in order to avoid potential attacks by Iran.

According to Reuters, two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) — Agios Fanourios I and Kiara M — crossed the strait on May 10, each carrying around 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil with their transponders deactivated.

It is reported that Agios Fanourios I later departed on May 26 toward the Nghi Son oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Vietnam. The tanker had previously failed to transit the Strait of Hormuz twice after being loaded with Basrah Medium crude on April 17.

In addition, another VLCC, Basrah Energy, is said to have passed through the strait on May 1 with 2 million barrels of oil while also operating with its tracking system switched off.
