As noted, the akim of the Kazakh region of Mangistau, Nurdaulet Kilybai, discussed with the chairman of the Georgian Industrial Group, David Bezhuashvili, an investment project aimed at developing ferry transportation on the Caspian Sea.

During the meeting, it was noted that from September 2025, new ferries will be transferred to the management of the Kazakh company MSC Middle Corridor Maritime, and regular ferry service under the flag of Kazakhstan will be launched on the Kuryk – Alat – Kuryk route for the first time.

It is expected that eight to nine trips will be operated monthly on the Kuryk-Alat-Kuryk route. The capacity of one vessel is 54 cargo trucks.

“Such traffic intensity will significantly increase the capacity of the Caspian route and create a reliable logistics bridge between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, opening up new opportunities for exporters and importers of both countries. Moreover, negotiations are underway to expand cooperation with other ferry operators. The implementation of such ambitious projects will allow Kazakhstan to significantly strengthen its position on the TITR, connecting China with Europe via Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Türkiye, and become a key player in the development of transcontinental transportation,” said the newspaper.
