On December 11, the representatives of the World Bank visited the Port of Baku. One of the main topics of discussion at the meeting, which was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the World Bank, and the Port of Baku, was the construction of the 2nd phase of the Port of Baku. The construction of this phase will be an important step for the development of the port and international trade.
It should be noted that as a result of the expansion works to be carried out within the framework of the 2nd phase of the Port of Baku, the port’s cargo handling capacity will reach 25 million tons, including 500,000 TEUs of containers. Currently, technical and economic feasibility studies, a master plan, and other works for the 2nd phase of the port are being carried out with the involvement of international consulting companies. With the completion of the aforementioned works and the provision of the financial resources required for the project, the construction work for the second phase of the port is planned to begin in the near future.
During the visit, discussions were also held on the port’s development prospects, logistics capabilities, and impact on the global economy. This meeting is an important milestone in terms of strengthening Azerbaijan’s transport and trade infrastructure.
