“Water Level Reduction in the Kura River Not Expected in the Near Future”

“A decline in the water level of the Kura River is not anticipated in the near future.”

Sea-news.az reports that this statement was made to journalists by Akif Guliyev, a representative of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA).

He noted that currently, more than 14 billion cubic meters of water have been accumulated in reservoirs:

“As you know, every single work listed is under the special supervision of the Water Commission established by the President. As an agency, daily reports are conducted and submitted to the relevant authorities regarding all aspects of water accounting—including the filling and release of reservoirs, as well as the discharge of water into the Kura. I would like to note that a drop in the water level of the Kura River will not be possible for at least a few years. However, until a few years ago, one of the main causes for the drop in the Kura’s water level was the disruption of the ecological balance, which resulted from low precipitation.”
