The number of U.S. Navy warships stationed near Iran has increased from 17 to 21 within a single week.

Sea-news.az reports citing data from the U.S. Naval Institute, that this update was released.

According to the report, a military strike group led by the aircraft carriers USS George Washington and USS George Bush is currently operating in the region. The naval formation also comprises one cruiser, 11 guided-missile destroyers, and three large amphibious assault ships.

In addition, two U.S. Navy destroyers are deployed in the Red Sea, with two more operating in the northwestern Indian Ocean.

It should be noted that during previous U.S. military operations against Iran, more than 20 American warships were similarly deployed to the region.
