Germany will allocate approximately 1.5 billion euros to modernize the northern port of Bremerhaven.
Sea-news.az reports that the project aims to rapidly expand the port to handle large volumes of military hardware for the Bundeswehr and NATO allies, as well as sizeable troop contingents.
It is noted that the project is planned for implementation between 2026 and 2031.
Last year, the Central Union of German Sea Port Operators appealed to Defense Minister Boris Pistorius requesting funding from the defense budget to prepare port infrastructure for a potential military conflict.
