A severe maritime accident has occurred off the coast of Cyprus as a violent storm sweeps across the Mediterranean. Driven by towering waves and torrential rain, three boats smashed against rocks and sank, resulting in one fatality and six rescues.
Sea-news.az reports that the body of the victim was recovered from the water near Cape Greco on the island’s southeastern coast, while two of the survivors were hospitalized. The fierce winds and downpours gripping the island have triggered flooding, landslides, and heavy sea swells across multiple districts. Military helicopters and Coast Guard cutters have been deployed to conduct search and rescue operations.
