During negotiations held in Muscat, Oman proposed to Iran that shipping in the Strait of Hormuz be divided into two zones.
According to sea-news.az that CNN relayed this information, citing a source.
“The southern route passing through Omani waters would ensure the free movement of vessels. The northern route, passing through Iranian waters, would operate based on prior consent from Tehran, but no transit fees would be collected,” the report states.
It was noted that the proposal is still in the discussion phase.
Previously, the Axios portal, citing sources, reported that Tehran and Muscat had discussed the possibility of fully opening the shipping route in the central part of the Strait of Hormuz.
