July 12 marks the birthday of the “Eagle of Murov,” martyr Lieutenant Colonel Raquf Orucov, who fell in the April battles.
According to sea-news.az that Lieutenant Colonel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and Karabakh War veteran Raquf Orucov was born in 1972 in the village of Cinli, Aghdam district, into the family of Raya and Ibrahim Orucov.
As the eldest of the family, Raquf had three brothers and one sister. Serving in the Soviet troops in 1990, Raquf Orucov later left the army to join the ranks of the Azerbaijani Army. During military operations conducted in the village of Farrukh and Aranzemin, he sustained a severe shrapnel wound to his leg. His mother, Raya, was killed on June 12, 1993, during the occupation of the village of Cinli in the Aghdam district. That same year, Raquf Orucov submitted his documents to the Baku Higher Combined Arms Command School and was accepted the following year.
Raquf Orucov acquired the necessary knowledge during his two years at the Baku Higher Combined Arms Command School. Upon graduating in 1996, although he was assigned to a military unit in Baku, he preferred to serve on the front line. In 1996, he received an assignment to Murovdag, where he continued his service as a reconnaissance company commander.
In early April 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Raquf Orucov joined his final battle. That night, our servicemen, who held their Motherland and land above even their own families, heroically martyred for the Azerbaijani lands under occupation. Among those who fell was Lieutenant Colonel Raquf Orucov, who had dedicated 26 years of his life to military service.
On April 5, Lieutenant Colonel Raquf Orucov was laid to rest. The funeral ceremony in Sumgait was attended by thousands of people and high-ranking officers of the Ministry of Defense.
