Ship traffic increases fourfold in the last week

The number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz has increased more than fourfold over the past week.

According to sea-news.az this was reported by the Financial Times.

The increase in shipping activity is attributed to shipowners’ growing confidence in their ability to transit the strait safely. However, the volume of ship traffic remains significantly lower than it was before the conflict between Israel, the U.S., and Iran began.

It should be recalled that on June 17, Washington and Tehran signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding.

According to the fifth clause of the memorandum, Iran must take measures within 60 days to ensure the safe and free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. During this period, the parties are expected to continue negotiations. It is also reported that Iran will hold talks with Oman regarding the future of the strait.
