Due to adverse weather conditions, all ports in Azerbaijan have been closed. Experts from the Vessel Traffic Management Center (GHİM) of the State Agency for Maritime and Port Transport (DDLA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport are working in high-alert mode.
In response to an inquiry from Report, the DDLA confirmed that there is currently a ban on the arrival and departure of vessels from all marine ports in Azerbaijan. Strong northwest and northern winds are expected to intensify over the Caspian Sea, with gusts reaching up to 30 m/s and wave heights potentially rising to 5.5 meters.
Given the challenging weather, all vessels currently at sea have been directed to designated shelters and are under constant supervision by operators. The National Maritime Administration Center is closely monitoring the direction and strength of the winds, wave heights, and visibility in Azerbaijani territorial waters. Specialists will continue exchanging information and managing vessel traffic until the winds subside.
The minimum temperature in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula has reached -4℃, in the Aran region -3℃, in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic -10℃, and in the mountainous areas -20℃. The deepest snow accumulation was recorded in the Gakh district at 75 cm.
