British Navy says ship attacked off Yemen’s coast

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a new attack by unknown assailants on a ship off the coast of Yemen, Report informs referring to TASS.

“UKMTO has received a report of an incident 65 nautical miles west of Al Hudaydah, Yemen [in the Red Sea]. Authorities are investigating. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO,” the statement said.

The information about the incident, which the UKMTO is deeming as an attack, came from the ship’s captain at 10:45 p.m. Moscow time [7:45 p.m. GMT] on Friday.

According to Ambrey, a British company specializing in maritime security, the attack targeted a liquefied natural gas tanker formerly owned by the US and sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands in the Red Sea. The company reported two explosions near the vessel, 40 minutes apart. The tanker’s crew reported drone activity near the ship more than two hours after the first explosion.
